Dispensing Medication

Parents who wish a child to take medication during the school day must complete a form that can be picked up from the MS/BU Charter School office. (Attached Form Follows)  This form must have a doctor’s signature, even for over-the-counter medications.  Any medication taken by a student during the school day must be brought in to the office by the parent (not the student) in the original container and approved through this process.  Medication is to be dispensed in the office only!  Medicine not only includes prescription drugs, but also such things as cough drops, aspirin, toothache remedies, etc.  Students are not allowed to carry any medications with them, except for an asthma inhalers or epi-pens, and these only when authorized by both the doctor and by our office).  Any other medication, including over-the-counter medications, if carried by a student will result in disciplinary action being taken against the student.  This is true for field trips as well.

Fire Drills

Fire drills are held on a regular basis.  There are emergency evacuation routes posted in each classroom and office.  Students are to obey the instructions of staff during the fire drill and are to remain quiet, orderly, and move quickly out of the building according to the prescribed routes.  Once outside the portables, students are to stand in their designated areas until the fire drill is completed.
